The Kurodake Ropeway that holds 101 people will take you to the fifth station from the hot spring spa in Sounkyo in 7 min, which is located on the mountain foot of the Daisetsuzan Mountains. (altitude 1,300 meters)
Mt. Kurodake is located in the Daisetsuzan National Park known as “roof mountains of Hokkaido” and as one of the largest national parks in Japan.
In mid-September, visitors can view the autumn leaves, which is the earliest in Japan.
The nature environment of 2000 meters mountains is the same as that of 3000 meters mountains in Honshu, which offers splendid views.
You can see the dynamic landscape from the ropeway, which features Kurodake (1,984m),
Keigetsudake (1,938m), Ryoundake (2,125m), Kamikawadake (1,884m), Ishikari River and valleys among ocean of trees.
You can feel the breath of cold air at the fifth station of Kurodake (altitude: 1,300m).
